Reviews
The best poke bowl in Honolulu. The sashimi are fresh and japanese rice cooked to perfection. The quantity of sashimi per box is just the right amount to enjoy every bite with the hot rice. Their spicy poke is seasoned well. Each taste is clean to enjoy the freshness and quality of fish.
I love places like this. Fresh fish and just the right amount of food. I had to try the maguro because of the name of the place. It did not let me down. I nibbled away at other friends' dishes and found it to be really good as well! I didn't notice the uni until after so there will have to be a next time. I also enjoyed watching the chef cutting out the maguro fish in the back; love seeing this stuff in real life instead of TV.
This was one of the poke shops that stood out when I was researching places, but after trying so many poke shops, I think it’s a little too overhyped. The store is really close to all the resorts on Waikiki beach so walking over is a plus and the interior tries to be more upscale with modern touches, though food wise the poke was average for Hawaii.
The fish was fresh and seasoned well but I wish the portions were a little bigger for the price. The rice tasted a bit more grainy and stale than most places I tried. The presentation was great and I love the convenience of having it downtown but if you can venture further, I recommend taking a drive to some other places.
Outstanding Japanese dining experience! This restaurant stands out as one of the finest spots for delectable sashimi. We savored the TORO Big Eye Tuna (extra fish) and CHUTORO (extra fish). The freshness and flavor of the fish, paired with the delightful rice, left a lasting impression. The optional spicy mayo sauce on the side complemented our dishes perfectly.
This review is for the Maguro brother location where you have to walk down to get to the restaurant next to a waffle place. They just reopened after Xmas holiday. I am from PNW so we appreciate good poke and was excited to try this restaurant. I ordered 24 and wish I took a picture but it was so unappealing and disappointed I didn't bother. I am hoping to try their other locations given the buzz around the brand.
While not the most budget-friendly take out poke bowl option, this dining experience proved to be a testament to the adage, "you get what you pay for." Admittedly, the sauces accompanying the dishes weren't anything extraordinary. However, the star of the show was undeniably the fish.

As promised I went back to Maguro brothers today and tried their blue fin tuna special. The flavour and texture of the blue fin tuna was very nice however I found that todays blue fin tuna was more fibrous than the chutoro I had yesterday. It was nice to finally try blue fin as it is highly regarded as the filet mignon of the tuna world. For the added premium price of blue fin I would prefer chutoro next time as I felt the chutoro was more satisfying overall.
As the sign says, good and fresh. Really nice tuna donburi. Chutoro was soft and flavourful, rice was nicely prepared with just the right amount of vinegar so it wasn’t too sour. Very satisfying dinner. I will be back to try the special blue fin Tuna tomorrow!
I had a lot of Poké in Hawaii, and this place is absolutely delicious. I can’t say that I’m an expert on Poké, but the fish and flavors were excellent and the vibe is really laid back. I would definitely go out of my way to come back here!!
